39 Flat First Floor, Whittingstall Road, SW6 4EA
Official description
The work involves taking out the existing timber window and frame, and lowering the cill to form a door opening within the existing structural opening width. No widening of the opening is proposed. A new lintel will be installed if required, and the brickwork either side will be made good in matching brick and mortar. The new door will be a painted timber part glazed door to match the existing windows and the character of the building and surrounding area. Its colour, finish, proportions and glazing bar arrangement will reflect the existing fenestration. No other changes to the external appearance of the building are proposed. Following installation of the door, I intend to add a roof terrace to the back of the flat. I have consulted the freehold owner of the ground floor flat below me who has consented to the works on the assumption that the roof is structurally sound. I arranged a call with a Hammersmith & Fulham planning officer on 13 October 2026 to discuss my plan for the roof terrace. The officer I spoke to advised that a glass balustrade was preferable and inkeeping with roof terraces in neighbouring properties.
