Cais am Farn Cwmpasu o dan Ran 2, Pennod 14 o Reoliadau Cynllunio Gwlad a Thref (Asesiad o'r Effaith Amgylcheddol) (Cymru) 2017 ar gyfer elfennau dirol y prosiect a elwir yn Western Link 2, sef cebl trydan tanddwr Foltedd Uchel Cerrynt Uniongyrchol (HVDC) rhwng Swydd Ayr a Gwynedd. Byddai elfennau dirol y prosiect arfaethedig yn cynnwys: glanfa newydd ym Mae Caernarfon, Gwynedd, yn ymgorffori Bae Cyd-drawsnewid (TJB) sy'n cysylltu'r cebl HVDC alltraeth â'r cebl HVDC ar y tir; tua 25 km o gebl HVDC tanddaearol o'r glanfa i orsaf drawsnewid newydd ger is-orsaf bresennol Pentir yng Ngwynedd; gorsaf drawsnewid newydd yn agos at is-orsaf bresennol Pentir; darn byr o gebl cerrynt eiledol foltedd uchel (HVAC) tanddaearol yn cysylltu'r orsaf drawsnewid ag is-orsaf bresennol Pentir; estyniad i is-orsaf bresennol Pentir i hwyluso'r cysylltiad â'r NETS; a addasiadau posibl i seilwaith llinell uwchben presennol yng nghyffiniau is-orsaf Pentir. Application for a Scoping Opinion under Part 2, Chapter 14 of the Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) (Wales) Regulations 2017 for the terrestrial elements of the project known as Western Link 2, a High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) subsea electricity cable between Ayrshire and Gwynedd. The terrestrial elements of the proposed project would comprise: a new landfall at Caernarfon Bay, Gwynedd, incorporating a Transition Joint Bay (TJB) connecting the offshore HVDC cable to the onshore HVDC cable; approximately 25 km of underground HVDC cable from landfall to a new converter station near the existing Pentir substation in Gwynedd; a new converter station in proximity to the existing Pentir substation; a short section of underground high voltage alternating current (HVAC) cable connecting the converter station to Pentir substation; an extension to the existing Pentir substation to facilitate the connection into the NETS; and potential modifications to existing overhead line infrastructure in the vicinity of Pentir substation.
